On April 4, 2022, Sanjiv Kapoor started working for Jet Airways after serving as President at the Oberoi Group. In the past, he has previously worked for Vistara and SpiceJet. Sanjiv Kapoor, the CEO-designate of Jet Airways, has resigned from his position, sources told Moneycontrol on April 28. The aviation veteran began working for the airline as its CEO (Chief Executive Officer) in the year 2022.

Following the completion of his notice period, Kapoor will leave the company effective Monday, May 1, according to the “Jalan Kalrock Consortium (JKC)”. The consortium’s executive committee will manage the duties in the interim “until a suitable replacement is in place.

As the airline struggles to resume operations, Kapoor’s resignation comes amid unresolved issues between lenders and the Jalan-Kalrock consortium. In a statement, JKC did emphasise that he is still “fully committed to the revival of Jet Airways.”

Due to disagreements between the winning bidder and lenders, the ownership transfer of the airline under the insolvency resolution plan is currently experiencing difficulties.

After the completion of his notice period, Kapoor said on his resignation, “I am proud to have been part of a fantastic team that came together with JKC to create history by reviving an airline for the first time in India. We set out to revive Jet Airways, one of India’s most beloved airlines during the last 25 years of its existence before it ceased operations in 2019.
